Having the free VRex DepthCharge viewer/web browser plug-in (PC), or Stereogler for Mac already installed can make your experience of these 3-D images much more enjoyable. Check out a simple explanation of the cross-eyed freeviewing technique while downloading the helpful software described below.

Windows users, please visit the VRex DepthCharge download page. Or, download the Win95/98/NT executable file (~1.6 Mb) directly from VRex, if you prefer. Windows 2000 users can also use the 1.2 (1998) version.

Mac users, please visit Jim Crowel's Software Page for information about the excellent Stereogler viewing program, and download links.

Rather than providing each stereo view in separate cross-eyed and parallel “freeviewing” formats, a single “stereo jpeg” *.jps file can invoke the plug-in software, which then gives you a range of display options.

If you must make do without the helpful plug-in, you should be able to set your browser so the “image/x-jps” MIME type runs a helper application and loads the stereoscopic images. JPS files are practically the same as JPG image files, and these stereo pairs will appear with the right half on the left side, ready for cross-eyed freeviewing.

A 1024x768 pixel display is
the minimum recommended for this site.
