Daigo Temple, Kyoto, Japan, during the Godairiki (Five Great Strengths) Festival, every February 26th, when "O-mamori" protective charms are sold to the Buddhist faithful. The round white and pink slabs to the lower left are huge auspicious "mochi" made of a special, glutinous rice. With the day focused on gathering energy to protect one's home and body from calamity, just touching these mochi is supposed to ward off ills. Everying proceeds under the vigilant gaze of the "Immovable One", depicted in the stone bas-relief in the background.
