| These are kirishima tsutsuji, brilliantly red azaleas typical of those in Kirishima, Kyushu, Japan. During the month of May, azaleas of all kinds bloom in profusion, but there are usually only a few days when individual types are at their peak. Japanese aesthetics extend to the fencing, where concrete is used for durability, but the form is cunningly crafted to look like wood. |
